HESPERIA:(VVNG.com)- During the evening hours of Saturday, July 5, 2014 Deputies and Volunteers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Hesperia Station conducted a DUI Checkpoint in the area of Main Street and Seventh Avenue.
A total of 1,117 vehicles went through the checkpoint during the 8 hour operation. One arrest was made for driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs and there were 21 other arrests / citations issued to drivers for driving with either a suspended driver’s license or driving without a license. Seven subjects were arrested for outstanding arrest warrants. Twelve vehicles were towed during the operation.
The purpose of these checkpoints is to apprehend impaired drivers who are operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, cite unlicensed drivers and to reduce the number of victims killed or injured in alcohol-involved collisions.
