Hesperia Attempted Murder Suspect Taken Into Custody

HESPERIA, Calif. ( A 58-year-old man who shot another man over the weekend has been taken into custody on attempted murder charges.

On Sunday, July 2, 2017, at approximately 2:58 am, deputies with the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the area of Bear Valley Road and Second Avenue in regards to shots fired.

Upon arrival deputies located a 50-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was conscious and transported to a trauma center, where he is currently in stable condition.

Through investigation, John Mosby was determined to be a person of interest in the attempted murder of the victim. Mosby had fled the scene before deputies arrived.

With the assistance of the San Bernardino County Specialized Enforcement Division (SED), Mosby was located on July 3, 2017, near the area of Main Street and Cataba Road. He was taken into custody wi thout incident and booked into the High Desert Detention Center under PC 664 / PC 187(a), attempted murder. Mosby is currently being held on $1,000,000.00 bail. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
