HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Residents in Hesperia and Victorville will have opportunities to dispose of unwanted items, shred sensitive documents and pick up free compost during separate community events from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 1.

Hesperia’s Neighborhood Beautification Day, Tire Amnesty event and Compost Giveaway will take place at 17105 Mesa Street.

The compost giveaway is self-service, and participants should bring sturdy containers, gloves and a shovel. Collection bins and compost will be available while supplies last.

The City of Hesperia said Saturday’s Neighborhood Beautification Day, Tire Amnesty event and compost giveaway will move forward as planned despite a fire that temporarily closed the Advance Disposal facility earlier this week.

In an update posted Tuesday, the city said drop-off services at the facility remain unavailable until further notice, although office hours are expected to resume normal business hours.

Responding to questions from residents on social media, the city also confirmed it will accept up to nine passenger vehicle or light truck tires per household from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, or until collection bins are full, at 17105 Mesa Street, across from the Advance Disposal facility.
