Hazardous Material Spilled into Big Bear Lake

BIG BEAR LAKE (VVNG.com)- After receiving notification of a release of approximately 20 gallons of gasoline into Big Bear Lake, San Bernardino County Fire, Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) Hazardous Materials Responders were requested by Big Bear Lake Fire to respond to Big Bear Marina to assist with the investigation of this gasoline
release.
Responders arrived to the 500 Block of Paine Court, and conducted an assessment of the situation. It was confirmed gasoline had leaked from an above ground storage tank system into the lake. The gasoline has been confined to the marina area. Absorbent pads are being used to absorb the gasoline in the water.
The investigation as to the cause of the release is ongoing. Remediation activities will continue throughout the evening into tomorrow. Other local and state agencies will continue to monitor the situation.
