Granite Hills and Excelsior Collaborating to Perform Shrek the Musical

Apple Valley, Calif.- The Granite Hills High School Theatre Arts Department is teaming up with Excelsior Charter School to perform “Shrek the Musical” this spring. Both schools have come together to prepare a fully collaborative musical, in which half the cast and production team is from Granite Hills and the other half is from Excelsior.
“Shrek the Musical” is based on the 2001 Oscar-winning DreamWorks film and follows the tale of a kingdom in chaos, a grumpy ogre, a feisty princess, a loudmouthed donkey, and a villain with a “short” temper. Great acting, stunning choreography, elaborate sets, whimsical costumes, and a spirit of unity and collaboration each come together to make this show a must-see.
The musical is directed by Excelsior’s Cherie Glisson, with music directed by Granite Hills’ Shane Churchill.
Performances will be held at the Rogers/Evans Performing Arts Center at Granite Hills High School on May 5-6 and May 11-13. Show times are at 7p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and at 2p.m. and 7p.m. Saturdays. Tickets are $10, or $8 for students, military and senior citizens, and can be purchased at www.ghhsdrama.com or by calling 760-961-2290 ext. 2436. Granite Hills High School is located at 22900 Esaws Road, Apple Valley, Calif.
