The employees at the soon to open Nisqualli overpass were relaxing and enjoying their lunch break when a two vehicle collision occurred directly near their work site on Monday afternoon.

Immediately the employees jumped into action and helped to prevent a Ford Explorer from flipping over into a ditch. A Victorville Police officer and several good Samaritans also assisted in the effort.

The driver in the Ford Explorer was air-lifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center by Mercy Air  with injuries unknown at this time.

The female and children who were in a burgundy vehicle is believed to be in good condition.

A relative of one of the victims commented in VVNG (newsgroup) and stated:

“My god-daughter said she heard aloud noise coming from the truck. When she looked the truck was coming at her and hit and lost control first thing she asked was how the other people are… Thank you all who helped.” Jimmy Fernandez

As a reminder please check tire and air pressure prior to traveling at high speeds. Excessively worn or old cracked tires should be replaced as soon as possible, as the chances of a blow out increase with heat conditions.
