GoFundMe Launched for 14-Year-Old Girl Shot Outside Mall of Victor Valley in Victorville

UPDATE — Sheriff’s officials said that on Tuesday, December 22, 2025, an arrest was made of a subject believed to be involved in the incident. Detectives from the Victorville Station have been working diligently to identify those responsible. This remains an active and ongoing investigation and updates will be provided when available.

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for Victoria Hernandez, a 14-year-old girl who was shot outside the Mall of Victor Valley on Sunday evening during a violent altercation involving juveniles.

Victoria’s father, David Hernandez, started the fundraiser to help support his daughter’s recovery after she was struck in the stomach and grazed on the arm by the same bullet while waiting in line to buy movie tickets.

“She was an innocent bystander just there to watch a movie when these teenagers started an argument with other kids, and weapons were brought out, leading to a round of shooting,” David wrote on the GoFundMe page. “Victoria went into emergency surgery to retrieve the bullet and is now recovering in the hospital. She is expected to be okay but has a lengthy recovery ahead of her.”

Victoria is a student at Serrano High School and has played soccer at Mesa Linda Park since she was little. Her father described her as “an all-star soccer player… known to everyone for her amazing heart and pure soul.”

“She’s a very loving girl and always wants to make people happy no matter what,” he added.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:39 p.m. on December 21, 2025, just outside the food court entrance nearest to the Cinemark 16 movie theater at 14400 Mall Boulevard in Victorville.

According to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Dispatch initially received reports of multiple juveniles fighting at the mall. The incident escalated, and shots were fired. One person was shot, and they were transported to the hospital.

The entire mall was evacuated as deputies and officers from CHP Victorville responded to secure the scene.

Several glass windows at the Cinemark theater were shattered by stray bullets during the gunfire. While the Mall of Victor Valley reopened the following day, the theater remained closed for repairs. Guests who had tickets for showings during the closure were asked to contact Cinemark directly for refund information.

Victoria’s mother, Hilda, told VVNG that doctors said her daughter’s stomach muscles helped slow the bullet, which came dangerously close to her spine. She remains hospitalized but is stable.

“You changed her whole life,” Hilda said of the shooter. “She’s supposed to start playing soccer in March and preparing to celebrate her Quinceañera in February.”

In a direct statement to the person responsible, she added, “You hit an innocent little girl. If you don’t turn yourself in, I hope you can live with that because if you carry a gun you know exactly what it was for.”

As of Monday, no arrests have been made, and sheriff’s officials have not released any new information about possible suspects.
