HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Family and friends of a 17-year-old teen shot and killed in Hesperia on Monday are raising money to help with funeral expenses.
The teen, David Becerra, was pronounced dead shortly after he was dropped off at a Victorville hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on September 23rd.
Police said they found several fired cartridge casings in the 16200 block of Sultana Street in Hesperia. Homicide detectives believe those are the bullets that took David’s life.
David’s family told VVNG he was a senior at Canyon Ridge High School in Hesperia and he was the oldest of 7 kids.
David’s mom has been struggling with her own health issues and was hospitalized last month.
David’s former little league football coach Preciise Davis has organized A Gofundme for the family to help with funeral expenses.
Preciise said he was fortunate enough to have coached David when he played for the High Desert Ducks.
‘He was a great athlete and he loved his family dearly, he was a voice with keeping peace and always wanted to be around his family and friends,” said Preciise. “All he wanted to do was make his mom proud.”
Detectives haven’t released a motive for the shooting or provided any information on the suspect that remains on the run.
