Fundraiser Launched For Family Of Weston Starnes After Fatal Dirt Bike Crash in Helendale

HELENDALE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A Helendale family is asking for the community’s support following the tragic death of 29-year-old Weston R. Starnes, who was killed in a dirt bike crash early Saturday morning.

A GoFundMe campaign titled Support Debra After Weston’s Tragic Loss has been created by Sandra Cooper to help ease the financial burden on Starnes’ family as they cope with the loss.

According to the campaign description, Starnes was deeply loved by his family, especially his grandmother, who described their bond as close and cherished. His sudden passing has left the family grieving an unimaginable loss.

The fundraiser explains that Starnes’ mother, Debra Starnes, is now facing not only emotional devastation but also the financial strain of funeral expenses. She is currently on a fixed income while serving as the primary caregiver for her 5-year-old granddaughter, Brielle, whose mother is incarcerated.

Despite the circumstances, Debra continues working to provide stability and care for the child during an already difficult time.

Funds raised through the campaign will go toward funeral costs, paying off Starnes’ truck, and helping support Debra and her granddaughter as they navigate the aftermath of his death.

The fatal crash occurred on March 14, 2026, at about 3:07 a.m., on Cumberland Lane west of Corona Drive in an unincorporated area of San Bernardino County.

According to a written statement from the Victorville CHP station, Starnes was riding a blue Yamaha YZ250 westbound when he crashed into the rear of a parked Ford Explorer. Emergency personnel responded and performed life-saving measures, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol Victorville Area continues to investigate the crash.
