The City of Hesperia is proud to offer free electronic waste drop-off events periodically throughout the year for all High Desert citizens and businesses. This is the perfect opportunity to dispose of electronic items that have been collecting in store rooms and closets. This event is open to all groups eager to properly dispose of banned items, including businesses, special districts and residents.

Next scheduled event:

[box type=”note” ]Date: January 4 & 5 Time: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Location: 15776 Main Street Behind Eagle Plaza Hesperia, CA 92345[/box]

The City of Hesperia is providing residents and businesses with a convenient and easy opportunity to drop off unlimited approved e-waste items for free.

What is E-Waste?
Electronic waste, or e-waste, is a growing environmental issue. Electronic items contain many hazardous materials including lead, mercury and cadmium, which can be harmful to those who come in contact with it. If these items are not disposed of properly the dangerous substances inside them can seep into the ground, contaminating the water supply and surrounding area. This is particularly important in Hesperia where our drinking water is pumped directly from the ground.

The hazardous materials that these items release have caused the State of California to prohibit these items in landfills. Instead, e-waste must be given to licensed hazardous disposal companies that provide environmentally responsible e-waste solutions for government agencies, corporations, health care organizations and other waste handlers nationwide.

Accepted Items

  • Monitors and Televisions
  • Desktop and Laptop Computers
  • Printer, Copiers and Fax Machines
  • Scanners and Cameras
  • LAN and Peripheral Cards
  • Workstations and Servers
  • Cell Phones and PDAs
  • Radios and Stereos
  • Mice and Keyboards

E-Waste is any consumer electronic equipment that has reached its end-of-life or end-of-usage; whether in full or non-working condition. It includes most electronics or electric appliances with a cord or circuit board such as: Computer Monitors, Television sets, PC Systems, Printers, Laptops, Copiers, Scanners, Fax Machines, Toner Cartridges, UPS and PDAs, Power Supplies, Main Frame Units, Networking Equipment, Mother Board Systems, VCR/VCD/DVD Players, Home Entertainment Systems, Landline and Cellular Phones and Small Portable Devices. There is a $5.00 service fee for Microwave Ovens. Refrigerators, Washer and Dryers, Fluorescent Light Bulbs and Household Batteries will not be accepted.
