Free class on “how to winterize your home inside and out”

“How to Winterize Your Home Inside-and-Out” on Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m

Victorville, Calif. (news release)  The City of Victorville and the Mojave Water Agency will host a free, hands-on workshop entitled, “How to Winterize Your Home Inside-and-Out” on Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Victorville City Hall located at 14343 Civic Dr. The workshop is open to all Victor Valley residents.

As the cold weather begins to settle in, it is time to take steps to winterize homes throughout the Victor Valley. Anyone can make weatherization improvements at home: home-owners, and renters that are living in apartments, mobile homes, and houses. Basic winterizing improvements will improve a home’s comfort, save energy, and save money. “Winterizing not only saves energy, but saves dollars for families throughout our community,” said Donna McCormick, Water Conservation Supervisor for the City of Victorville.

Workshop attendees will learn how to implement simple measures to lower home energy use by installing weatherization materials using basic tools such as scissors and a screwdriver; and how to properly insulate water pipes to prevent freezing and avert costly repairs. A raffle is scheduled during the workshop for three Winterizing Kits ($50+ value). Raffle winners must attend the workshop and be present at the time raffle winner names are selected to be eligible to win. Refreshments and free water-efficient materials will be provided to all that sign-up and attend the workshop (while supplies last).

Those interested in attending the workshop can register online by going to: www.VictorvilleCa.Gov/Conserve and clicking on the “Winter Weatherization Workshop” link. Attendees can also register by calling the Victorville Water Conservation Division at (760) 998-8702.
