ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The former President of the Adelanto Little League was charged with embezzling over $11,000.00 dollars from the organization, officials said.
David Michael Thomas, 55, of Victorville, was arrested Tuesday after nearly a year long investigation by detectives from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Sheriff’s officials said they were alerted to the embezzlement in April of 2018 by Little League Officials.
After multiple search warrants and review of hundreds of pages of financial documents, the investigation was completed.
“It was determined Thomas had used the league’s bank account to make unauthorized purchases, created false invoices to request reimbursement from the league, and made unauthorized cash withdrawals,” stated a sheriff’s news release.
Thomas was booked at High Desert Detention Center on February 5, 2019, where he was later released on his own recognizance.
In March of 2018, a newspaper publication reported on a string of burglaries involving a pair of storage sheds used to house the baseball equipment at Richardson Park in Adelanto. According to the report, Thomas said the damages were over $10,000 and provided his phone number for anyone looking to donate to the league.
