Flood Watch in Effect until Friday Night

APPLE VALLEY-(VVNG.com): The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood watch for the third consecutive day on Friday, October 16th. The flood watch is set for areas of Victorville, Apple Valley and Lucerne Valley. This will remain in effect until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.
The watch was issued due to a slow moving low pressure system that will maintain moisture and instability with slow moving thunderstorms through the afternoon and early evening. These storms according to the NWS will have the potential to produce heavy rainfall with flash flooding.
Flash flood condition can develop in a matter of minutes for low-lying, valley areas. Flash floods can become very dangerous. Drivers should drive with caution, reduce speed in wet weather and should not attempt to cross standing water. The standing water may appear to be shallow, but be much deeper once entered.
