HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — One woman was rescued and another escaped after a fire broke out inside a Hesperia home early Friday morning.
Fire crews responded to a residence on Hemlock Avenue just north of Main Street shortly after midnight on Friday, August 29, 2025.
Upon arrival, the first engine company reported a smoke-filled structure and confirmed that an adult female was trapped inside and unable to evacuate.
Firefighters quickly teamed up with a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy at a bedroom window in an effort to reach the trapped individual. Crews entered the bedroom through the window, closed the door to contain the fire, and lifted the woman to safety with assistance from the deputy, according to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
A second adult female resident had managed to escape the home prior to fire crews’ arrival.
County Fire EMS personnel treated both residents and the assisting deputy for minor injuries at the scene. The woman rescued from the home was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Fire attack crews worked inside the residence while a truck company performed operations on the roof. The coordinated effort successfully confined the fire to a single room in the rear of the home, preventing major damage to the rest of the structure.
Additionally, six dogs were accounted for, including several retrieved from inside the home. All pets survived and were turned over to neighbors for temporary care.
The response included four engine companies, three ambulances, one ladder truck, a battalion chief, and an investigator. County Fire also acknowledged the assistance of @CityOfVictorville Fire and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the County Fire Office of the Fire Marshal.
