VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Firefighters quickly brought a vegetation fire under control Tuesday afternoon after it broke out in the Mojave River along Frontage Road near the southbound Interstate 15 Freeway in Victorville.

The fire was reported at about 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, and grew to approximately 2 acres before firefighters stopped its forward progress.

Firefighters remain on scene conducting mop-up operations, which are expected to continue for the next one to two hours as crews extinguish remaining hot spots and ensure the fire does not rekindle.
