Firefighters douse fire burning near homes in Apple Valley Tuesday morning

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Firefighters quickly doused a brush fire burning close to homes in Apple Valley Tuesday morning.

At about 8:14 am, firefighters with the Apple Valley Fire Protection District were dispatched to the area of Rancherias Road near Hopi Road for a report of downed power lines.

As they responded, the call was upgraded to a possible residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters located a Joshua tree on fire that had spread to a woodpile and eventually to a wooden fence.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and kept it from spreading to any nearby structures.

No injuries were reported and the official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
