Firefighters Battle 2 Alarm Commercial Structure Fire

ADELANTO:(VVNG.com)- On October 2, 2014 at 3:04 a.m., the San Bernardino County Fire Department Communications Center received multiple reports of a fire in a commercial building in the area of Highway 395 / Bartlett Avenue in the City of Adelanto. When Firefighters arrived they discovered the fire was well-established inside a structure in the 11500 block of Bartlett Avenue. Flames were visible from the roof, multiple doorways and window openings threatening a semi-truck and attached trailer. A 2nd Alarm was requested for additional Firefighters to assist with battling the blaze.

Once the safety of the semi-truck and its trailer was ensured, Firefighters began a larger coordinated attack with additional hose line’s and ventilation holes cut in the roof by the Truck Company to remove the heat and smoke from the structure. It took a total of thirty Firefighters twenty-three minutes to gain control of the fire.

fire21The semi-truck and trailer, valued at $200,000 were saved with little or no damage and the structure, valued at $70,000 sustained major damage. In total, County Fire responded with eight Engines, two Trucks, one Battalion Chief and one Fire Investigator. Traffic lanes in the affected area of Bartlett Avenue were shut down for the duration of the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Fire Investigators.
