Fire crews quickly contain small brush fire on Highway 173 in Summit Valley

UPDATE — Firefighters have full control of the fire and will continue to remain on scene for mop-up efforts.
SUMMIT VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Fire crews are on scene of a quarter acre brush fire burning on the south side of Highway 173, near Highway 138 in Hesperia.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident logs, a vehicle fire was reported in that area at 4:28 pm. Per the logs, the fire spread into the brush.
The incident has been dubbed HorseThief and is holding at a quarter acre with heavy to medium fuels. Winds in the area are reported to be 5-7 mph.
Firefighters have requested a temporary hard closure on Highway 173 between Highway 138 and the spillway.
