Felons Arrested after Traffic Collision in Victorville; Stolen Firearm Recovered

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Two previously convicted felons were arrested following a traffic collision Sunday night in Victorville.

It happened on February 11, 2024, at about 11:18 pm, at the intersection of D Street and Air Expressway.

A black 2017 Cadillac CT6 lost control and crashed into the tires of a tractor-trailer belonging to double Eagle Transportation.

The suspects, identified as 39-year-old James Perkins, a resident of Los Angeles, and 44-year-old Larry Lamar Johnson, a resident of Victorville, were reportedly together in the same vehicle at the time of the incident.

According to sheriff’s spokeswoman Socorro Cuevas, a stolen firearm was located by deputies inside the vehicle during their investigation.

Larry Johnson, seated behind the wheel during the crash, faces multiple charges including driving under the influence as outlined in Vehicle Code 23152(B).

Additionally, he is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm (Penal Code 29800(A)(1)), possession of ammunition by a prohibited person (Penal Code 30305(A)(1)), and receiving stolen property (Penal Code 496(A)).

His associate, Perkins James, is charged with similar firearms-related offenses such as being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, along with receiving stolen property.

Perkins and Johnson are scheduled for a court hearing on February 14, 2024 in a Victorville courtroom.
