ADELANTO-(VVNG.com): A father who accidentally shot and killed his 7-year-old son on June 11th, will be sentenced for involuntary manslaughter on January 15th. Julio Cervantes Sr. initially pleaded not guilty at his arraignment hearing in August 2015, but on Monday, December 8th hearing he changed his plea to no contest.
Charges stem from when his son, Daniel Cervantes sustained the fatal gunshot wound when he was accidentally shot on Thursday, July 11th at 4:54 p.m on the 18700 block of Bellflower Street. Daniel was transported to Victor Valley Global Center, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly following his arrival.
Cervantes was arrested in the early morning hours of Friday, June 12th for the death of his young son. He was released on bail days following his arrest. His bail is continued until he returns to court for sentencing, where he is expected to be sentenced to up to 4 years in jail.
