Father Charged After Crash That Killed His Daughter

HESPERIA-( A man is being charged with child endangerment and felony DUI after losing control of the vehicle he was driving that lead to the death of his 2-year-old daughter.

The rollover traffic collision late Saturday morning occurred in the area of Arrowhead Lake Road near Whitehaven Street at around 11:11 a.m.

Deputies determined that the white, four-door Nissan Maxima was driving south on Arrowhead Lake road when the driver attempted to pass a slower moving vehicle. He went into opposing lanes and for unknown reasons lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle, occupied by the driver, an 8-year-old, a 5-year-old, a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old left the roadway and overturned. The 2-year-old was ejected from the vehicle, she was transported to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

All of the other occupants suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.

The driver was booked into the High Desert Detention Center.

MAIT Investigators are continuing the investigation into the collision. Arrowhead Lake Road was closed in the area of the collision from 11:30 AM until 7:30PM while MAIT Investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.

The family has set up a Go Fund Me account to assist with the burial of the child that died as a result of this collision.
