Fatal Rollover Crash Shuts Down I-15 Freeway Near Glen Helen Parkway

RIALTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A fatal traffic collision on the southbound I-15 Freeway near Glen Helen Parkway prompted a major emergency response and a full freeway shutdown of the southbound lanes Sunday evening.

The crash was reported at approximately 6:51 p.m. on July 6, 2025, between Sierra Avenue and Glen Helen Parkway in the city of Rialto.

According to incident logs, multiple vehicles were involved, and one SUV overturned, coming to rest in the northbound lanes after crossing the center divider.

Emergency responders from the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, along with AMR and CHP officers, arrived quickly on scene.

A total of five engines and several medical units were dispatched, including ME2, ME81, RC175, and others.

According to a California Highway Patrol incident log, a vehicle overturned and landed upright in the northbound lanes after crossing over from the southbound side.

Another vehicle, reportedly a black Mazda, was also involved along with a white Tesla.

CHP confirmed the incident was upgraded to a fatality.

Lanes were shut down in both directions as officials initiated a full freeway closure to allow firefighters and law enforcement to work safely at the scene and conduct a thorough investigation.

Traffic on the I-15 was significantly impacted in both directions, with delays stretching back for several miles as seen in Caltrans CCTV footage.

At 7:19 pm, a SigAlert was issued due to all lanes being shutdown for an unknown duration.

Details about the identity of the victim and the cause of the crash were not immediately available. The CHP Inland Division is handling the investigation.

UPDATE – At 7:59 pm the no. 4 lane reopened, all other lanes continue to remain closed.
