Fatal Crash Closes Stretch of Mariposa Rd in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) A stretch of Mariposa Road is closed following a fatal traffic accident Monday afternoon.

At 6:05 p.m., a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy was traveling on Mariposa Road when he witnessed a northbound vehicle crash into a fire hydrant and a street light pole before coming to a stop on its side.

The vehicle, a white sedan, came to a stop near the Southwest Gas building located at 13471 Mariposa Rd.

“It was a single vehicle collision, the driver is trapped under the car at this time,” Sergeant Smith from the Victorville Police Station confirmed.

When fire personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived scene, they extricated the driver from under the car and pronounced him deceased at 6:23 p.m.

Mariposa Road between Yates and Nisqualli Roads will be closed for several hours while the Major Accident Investigation Team responds to process the scene.

No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
