Fans of All Ages Attended Linebreakers Inaugural Free Comic Book Day in Old Town Victorville

Victorville, Calif. — On Saturday, May 4th, the High Desert came together in support of Linebreakers first annual Free Comic Book Day event, drawing over 400 attendees to Old Town Victorville and giving away over 1,000 comic books.

“Free Comic Book Day, for me, was a great opportunity to gather the local community together for a positive and safe event that focuses on creativity and kids,” said Linebreakers Owner David McKean.

The event had a line around the building before the doors opened at 10:00 a.m. From the moment the doors opened until late in the evening, residents flowed in to celebrate pop culture. With raffles, a piñata for the children, a costume contest and more, the day had something for all. Fans of all ages came in dressed as their favorite superhero or Star Wars characters: from jedi to the sith, from Supergirl to the popular Captain Marvel and more.

This was Linebreakers first ever Free Comic Book Day event, and thanks to the High Desert residents, it was a huge success. By mid-day, most of the over 1,000 comic books had already been passed out. Titles available included Spider-Man, Avengers, Catwoman, Bloodshot, Deadly Class, and more.  Cosplayer Monotone Kylo and the popular 501st Legion were in attendance, taking photos with fans and enjoying the festivities.

“Seeing everyone, from kids to adults, come in to celebrate the comic book artform was amazing,” said Linebreakers Comic Book Specialist Denton Heath. “To see kids get excited for reading these great books, that’s what it’s all about.”
