Family Launches GoFundMe for Teen Injured in Hesperia Cellphone Robbery Outside Target

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) – A week after a teenager was critically injured during a robbery at the Target parking lot in Hesperia, her family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with her mounting medical expenses.
The 17-year-old girl was critically injured during a planned meet-up inside the Target in Hesperia, located at 12795 Main Street, to sell a cell phone that ended in robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
While inside the store, a 17-year-old suspect posing as a buyer, grabbed the phone from the teen and ran outside.
The victim followed the suspect in an attempt to stop the suspect from leaving and retrieve the phone. The suspect entered the vehicle and struck the victim with the vehicle.
Following the assault on November 25, 2024, the teen was left in critical condition and was flown to a trauma center where she has undergone multiple surgeries within the past few days.
The family is now seeking support from the community to help cover medical costs, therapy, and necessary equipment for her recovery when she returns home.
In their fundraising plea, Maria L. of Phelan, shared, “We are needing assistance in raising money for medical costs and equipment after a bad robbery & hit and run. Our daughter was unfortunately in a tragic situation that has left her with broken bones and trauma after being robbed and run over, dragging her 30 feet and leaving her in a parking lot without being able to move or get herself up.”
The current total raised for her care stands at $460.
Since the incident, the Hesperia Police Department identified the suspect as a 17-year-old female. With a search warrant, investigators located the suspect, along with the victim’s phone and additional evidence.
The suspect was arrested and booked at the High Desert Juvenile Detention Center for PC 211- Robbery and PC 245 (a)(4) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Great Bodily Injury.
