Family Establishes GoFundMe for Man Killed While Crossing Amethyst Road in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, CALIF. (VVNG.com) — Michael Pont, a 42-year-old local homeless man, was fatally struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Amethyst Road and Ironstone Ave on February 9th.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8:01 p.m., where they found Mr. Pont with critical injuries.

Despite the Victorville Fire Department and the Victorville Police Department’s efforts to save him, Michael Pont was pronounced dead at the site of the accident, according to a previous VVNG article.

The driver involved in the collision, operating a Chevy 4-door sedan, remained at the location and has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation by the Victorville Police Department.

The severity of the accident was apparent with significant damage to the vehicle, including shattered front and rear windshields. Nearby, a wagon containing Mr. Pont’s belongings was discovered nearby.

Facing challenges in affording a burial, Michael’s family created a fundraiser. His father, Norm Pont of Apple Valley, took to GoFundMe to appeal to the community for support.

Reminiscing about his son, he shared an old photograph of them playing guitar together and expressed his gratitude for any help offered during this difficult time.
