Employee assaulted during robbery at Holiday Skating Center in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A Victorville man is behind bars on $100,000 bail after he robbed a local business and assaulted an employee, officials said.

It happened on July 29, 2018, at the Holiday Skating Center located in the 14900 block of Palmdale Road in Victorville.

Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez told Victor Valley News, the suspect, Steve Gomez, 39, was previously banned from entering the business allegedly due to prior issues they had with him.

“When the employees refused service, Gomez became verbally aggressive. Gomez then reached through the cashier window and took an undisclosed amount of cash and attempted to leave. A male employee tried to stop Gomez and was physically assaulted by him,” stated Rodriguez.

Gomez fled from the scene on his motorcycle and a deputy responding to the incident spotted him on the bike near El Evado and Palmdale Road. He was detained and arrested without incident.

According to Rodriguez, the victim suffered some bruising and pain but declined medical treatment at the scene.

Gomez was booked for robbery at the High Desert Detention Center for PC211 Robbery and is scheduled to appear in a Victorville courtroom on July 31, 2018.
