Elderly pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 76-year-old Victorville man identified as Emilio Rodriguez, died after he was struck by a vehicle Monday evening.

It happened at about 5:08 pm, on November 8, 2021, at the intersection of Rodeo Drive and Lariat Road in Victorville.

Deputies arrived on scene and learned the pedestrian walked outside of a crosswalk, west across Rodeo Drive when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Rodeo.

Rodriguez was transported via air ambulance to Loma Linda Hospital. Despite life-saving measures, Rodriguez was pronounced deceased at 7:03 PM.

Deputies with the Victorville Station Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The driver involved in the collision remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

Rodeo Drive between Lariat Road and Batson Street remained closed for several hours while deputies conducted their investigation. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
