ORO GRANDE, Calif. (VVNG.com)- Delmer Sills, 79, a resident of Helendale, was killed in a head-on traffic collision Saturday evening.
At about 5:15 p.m., dispatch received reports of a collision on National Trails Highway on the old Iron Bridge, just north or Turner Road.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol along with San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded and located a 2010 Hyundai Tucson and a 2001 Toyota Camry with major damage.
According to authorities, Sills was traveling southbound on National Trails when his Hyundai was struck head-on by the Camry.
As a result of the crash both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and required extrication.
Sills was transported by ambulance to St. Mary’s Medical Center where he later died from his injuries sustained in the collision.
The driver of the Toyota was airlifted to a trauma center with unknown injuries.
The California Highway Patrol-Victorville Area is investigating the collision.
