Duo Arrested on Check Fraud and Identity Theft

BARSTOW, Calif:( A man and woman were arrested in connection with a check fraud ring and possession of a controlled substance.

On Monday, August 29th, 2016, at approximately 12:09 p.m., deputies from the Barstow Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant in the 2900 block of E. Main Street, in Barstow, in reference to an ongoing investigation into check fraud.

Jolene Dawn Collard, 34, a resident of Northridge and Francisco Guzman, 37, a resident of Pasadena were contacted at the location.

Deputies located and seized numerous stolen pieces of mail, books of personal checks, driver’s licenses and ATM cards. A notebook, located at the location, contained several victim’s names, places of employment, credit card numbers, etc. Deputies also located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and several glass pipes used to smoke methamphetamine.

Jolene Collard and Francisco Guzman were arrested and booked at the Barstow Jail for charges including PC 476, Fictitious Checks and PC 530.5, Identity Theft. They are being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
