Duo Arrested for AZ Liquor Robbery Linked to a String of Area Robberies

VICTORVILLE-(VVNG.com): The two suspects believed to be responsible for the Tuesday night robbery of AZ Liquor allegedly are also responsible for a string of robberies in the same general area.  The two suspects were arrested shortly after the armed robbery that took place at approximately 9:50 P.M., at the AZ Liquor Store on Ridgecrest road just north of Bear Valley road.

On Tuesday night after holding two employees at gunpoint and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash and a bottle of Gray Goose Vodka the license plate number of the getaway vehicle was taken down by a Victor Valley College patrol officer.

The suspects, at this time, are believed to be responsible for a total of seven area robberies that took place in the months of April and May.

“It is not that they (robberies) are happening more than they were before, it is that the same people are likely committing more than one of these crimes. If they are not caught right away, a lot of them continue until they do get caught,” explained Sgt. Zour, during a Wednesday morning call.

The suspects, later identified as 27-year-old Anthony Turner and 38-year-old Jennifer Maynard were arrested just minutes after the robbery. The suspect vehicle was stopped one mile east of the incident near Bear Valley and Fish Hatchery roads.

Turner has a September 2008 robbery conviction. He was sentenced to 6 years in state prison after accepting a plea bargain in October 2009 that dropped the four additional felony charges that he, at the time, was facing. He was credited for time served plus conduct credit, leaving him with approximately 4 years and 10 months to serve.

Turner appeared in court on via video Thursday, May 21st and put in a not guilty plea to all charges. Turner is facing two charges of robbery, two charges of assault with a firearm, receiving stolen property and theft of personal property. He is currently being held at High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $400,000. He is due back at the Victorville Superior Court for a pre-preliminary hearing on June 1st.

Maynard is currently at West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bail, she was scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Thursday, May 21st, but there is no information regarding that hearing available at this time. She was booked on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy charges.
