VICTOR VALLEY-(VVNG.com): On Friday, June 26th the CHP will be conducting a DUI checkpoint at an undisclosed Victor Valley Location.
The location has been selected based on the high frequency of drunk driving related traffic collisions and DUI arrests.
The checkpoints will be staffed by CHP officers that are trained to identify alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. All drivers will be screened as they pass through the checkpoint by handheld alcohol testing device equipped officers. Those determined after further field testing to be under the influence will be subsequently arrested and their vehicle will be towed.
Statistics show that nearly 29% of all traffic deaths are caused by drivers with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher. Last year alone, these fatalities have cost California taxpayers $5.4 billion dollars.
