APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Caltrans crews are continuing roadway improvements this week along State Route 18 between Dale Evans Parkway and Apple Valley Road, according to a written statement.
The work includes cold plane and overlay, new ADA curb ramps, electrical upgrades and landscaping. The project is fully funded through Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
Daytime work is scheduled Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Traffic control is in place for electrical upgrades, guardrail installation, ADA curb ramp and sidewalk improvements, and concrete barrier work.
Officials said alternating lanes and ramp closures may occur as needed. Traffic control devices and cones will be used to separate work areas from traffic, and some work may take place behind k-rail barriers.
Closures may take place in the following areas:
SR-18 northbound:
- Apple Valley Inn Road to Apple Valley Road
- Apple Valley Road to 1st Street
SR-18 southbound:
- Apple Valley Road to Apple Valley Inn Road
- 1st Street to Stoddard Wells Road
Motorists are being urged to drive with caution and allow extra time to reach their destinations. According to the statement, closures depend on weather conditions and the contractor receiving proper materials for each phase of the job. The schedule may be changed or canceled at any time.
Officials also reminded drivers to reduce speed near work zones for the safety of crews and others traveling through the area. Signage will be posted in advance to alert motorists of approaching roadway work.
