PHELAN, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A man driving an SUV was killed after colliding with a semi on State Route 18 Sunday.
It happened on February 18, 2018, at 5:53 p.m., when officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to a traffic collision on SR-18, east of Amarillo Street in Phelan.
According to officials, the male driver of a 2011 Nissan Rogue was driving westbound on SR-18 when he veered into the opposing traffic lane and collided head-on with a Volvo tractor-trailer combination.
The male driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification has been confirmed and the name will be released when the next-of-kin is notified.
SR-18 was closed for several hours while officers processed the scene.
The California Highway Patrol-Victorville Area is investigating the collision.
