VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Sheriff’s officials have identified the pedestrian that was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Victorville as Steven Russell Archuleta, 64.
Additionally, investigators have also determined the vehicle that struck Archuleta was a silver 2005 Ford Taurus, with silver over black side view mirrors, and not an older model Jeep as previously reported. The vehicle will likely have front-end damage and is missing the passenger side mirror that was left behind at the scene.
Archuleta’s life was cut short on the night of Friday, July 6, 2018, as he walked across Seventh Street, near East Sage Street in Victorville.
The suspect vehicle was traveling northbound at the time of the impact when it struck the pedestrian causing him to flip up and over the vehicle and land in the middle of the roadway, stated a sheriff’s news release.
The driver of the vehicle continued driving northbound and fled the scene of the collision.
Archuleta was transported to Victor Valley Global Medical Center and was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after arrival.
