Driver sought after hit-and-run involving sheriff’s patrol vehicle in Victorville

Assistance is needed in identifying the driver of a 4-door, Chevrolet Silverado, black or dark colored

VICTORVILLE,  Calif. ( — The Victorville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a pick-up truck that fled the scene after crashing into a sheriff’s deputy patrol vehicle.

On February 25, 2018, at approximately 2:31 a.m., an on-duty deputy, from the Victorville Police Department, was involved in a hit and run traffic collision at the intersection of Mariposa Road and Nisqualli Road.

According to a sheriff’s news release, the deputy was traveling south on Mariposa Road and as he entered the intersection his patrol vehicle was struck by a pickup truck traveling west on Nisqualli Road when the driver of the pickup failed to stop for the red light. After the impact, the driver of the truck did not stop after colliding with the deputy.

The pickup was last seen entering northbound Interstate 15 freeway and after an extensive area search, the driver and vehicle remain outstanding, officials said.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and later released.

The pickup truck is believed to be a late-model, 4-door, Chevrolet Silverado, black or dark-colored. It should have extensive damage to the front passenger side area.
