Driver Flees After Semi-Truck Snags Power Lines In Apple Valley Neighborhood, Sending Utility Pole Into Roof

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A hit-and-run investigation is underway after a semi-truck struck multiple power lines Tuesday afternoon, causing significant damage to utility infrastructure and leaving a utility pole embedded in the roof of a residence in an Apple Valley neighborhood.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:35 p.m. on June 16, 2026, in the 21100 block of Multnomah Road.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Gloria Orejel told VVNG that deputies responded to the area after witnesses reported a semi-truck struck several power lines, resulting in damage to multiple residences.
According to Orejel, the semi-truck driver fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Photos from the scene show significant damage to utility equipment and overhead lines. One wooden utility pole was snapped and forced onto the roof of a residence, where a large section of the pole became lodged against the home’s roofline and remained partially embedded in the structure.
Additional images show power lines draped across the roadway and stretched through residential yards, creating a tangled hazard throughout the neighborhood.
Another section of the broken utility pole came to rest inside a fenced yard behind nearby residences, while low-hanging power lines remained stretched between properties.

The collision also appeared to damage additional utility poles along the street, leaving wires draped across driveways, front yards, and other residential areas.
As of 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, Southern California Edison crews were still on scene assessing and repairing damage to utility poles and power lines caused by the incident.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run investigation is encouraged to contact the Apple Valley Police Department at 760-240-7400.
