Driver ejected, airlifted after rollover crash on NB 15 freeway in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif.(VVNG.com) — A two-vehicle crash shortly after midnight resulted in the temporary closure of the northbound 15 freeway in Hesperia.
On Saturday, August 24, 2024, at approximately 12:22 am, the Barstow Dispatch Center received a report of a traffic collision, south of Bear Valley Road.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the incident. Firefighters requested a helicopter to land on the northbound I-15 freeway.
Upon arrival, CHP officers found an unidentified male in his 20s unresponsive in the traffic lanes. The man, who was driving a 2006 Pontiac G6, was airlifted to Loma Linda Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The other vehicle, a 2023 Nissan Rogue, had two occupants who were not injured in the crash.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the Pontiac G6 was traveling in the #2 lane and the Nissan Rogue in the #1 lane on I-15 northbound.
For unknown reasons, the Pontiac made an unsafe left turn, colliding with the Nissan Rogue. Both vehicles drifted left and hit the center divider, causing both drivers to lose control.
The Pontiac overturned but ended up back on its wheels within the lanes, while the Nissan Rogue drifted to the right shoulder, crashed into a concrete culvert, and landed on its roof.
CHP Officers shutdown traffic
The Victorville CHP is investigating the crash, and there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were factors in the incident.
