Driver airlifted after crashing into a tree and overturning on Central Road in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 50-year-old driver was airlifted after crashing into a tree and overturning Monday night in the Town of Apple Valley.

It happened at 6:42 pm, on January 29, 2024, on Central Road, north of Thunderbird Road.

According to preliminary information, the male driver lost control of the Chevy pickup truck, veered across lanes, collided into a large pine tree, and overturned into the roadway.

Alicia Shelton lives on the other side of the pine tree and said her entire home shook from the impact.

Alicia said she and her husband jumped over the wall and her husband pryed the door open on the truck. “We got flashlights, a fire extinguisher, and fireman came and pulled him out other side,” stated Alicia.

Firefighters from the Aple Valley Fire Protection District responded to the collision and requested a medical helicopter.

The male was transported by ground ambulance to a landing zone at St. Mary’s Medical Center and subsequently airlfifted to an out-of-area trauma center.

Alicia said the driver was lucky he had his seatbelt, he had some head swelling and head trauma but looked okay.

The cause of the single-vehicle traffic collision is under investigation by the Apple Valley Police Department.
