Double Fatal Crash Shuts Down Mariposa Road in Hesperia Tuesday Afternoon

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) – Two people were killed in a crash on Mariposa Road Tuesday afternoon.

The incident, which took place just South of Mesquite Street at approximately 3:43 p.m., involved a black 2016 Chevrolet Suburban and a blue 2005 Toyota Corolla.

According to authorities, both vehicles sustained significant damage in what appeared to be a head-on collision.

Emergency services from the San Bernardino County Fire Department, stationed in Hesperia, responded quickly to the scene.

Despite rescue efforts, two individuals from the blue sedan were pronounced dead at the location.

Another occupant was found trapped with serious injuries and was promptly transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

A fourth individual involved in the crash was transported for minor injuries.

Law enforcement officials took a person from the Chevrolet Suburban into custody.

Details about the reasons for the detention remain undisclosed, and it is currently unclear if the individual was driving or a passenger in the Suburban, with investigations ongoing to determine their exact role.

Traffic on Mariposa Road has been more congested than usual due to temporary lane closures on the 15 freeway, which were prompted by flood conditions stemming from recent rains.

As part of the ongoing investigation into the crash, Mariposa Road was temporarily closed to traffic in both directions.

Authorities are seeking additional information and urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. Stay tuned for updates as the investigation progresses.
