Dirt Bike Rider Airlifted Following Collision with Jeep in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A dirt bike rider was airlifted to a trauma center after crashing into a Jeep Saturday afternoon in the Town of Apple Valley.
It happened at about 12:20 pm, on October 12, 2024, on Outer Highway 18, and Olalee Road, near the entrance to Tom’s Famous Family Restaurant.
For reasons still under investigation, a green/white Kawasaki dirt bike crashed into the front passenger side of a white Jeep Gladiator.
The impact caused the dirt bike to break into two pieces and the rider was critically injured.
Firefighters from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District requested a medical helicopter to airlift the rider. A Reach helicopter was already stationed at the St. Mary’s helipad and subsequently airlifted the injured rider to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Outer Highway 18 was closed in both directions for approximately 1-hour as deputies investigated and a tow company cleared the bike.
The driver of the Jeep was not injured and cooperated with the investigation.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Apple Valley Police Department.
