Man Wanted for Attempted Murder Shot By Deputy in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) A suspect wanted for shooting a man in the back of the head at a Target parking lot was shot by a Deputy Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 6:07 p.m., a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy was attempting to make contact with Dearld Edward Wicker when a shooting occurred.

The deputy was not injured but told dispatch the suspect was shot and retreated back inside the home located on the 25600 block of Flathead Road in Apple Valley.

The Sheriff’s Helicopter made public announcements over the home and requested for Dearld Edward Wicker to come out with his hands up as deputies surrounded the home.

Moments later the suspect made contact with sheriff’s dispatch and said he was inside the home down in the hallway unable to move from injuries sustained after being shot, per scanner reports.

Deputies eventually made entry into the residence and requested medical aid for his injuries.

Due to the suspects injuries an airship was requested to airlift him to a trauma center. As of Tuesday night his condition remains unknown.

Bachman said the Homicide Detail Investigation Team is responding to the scene of the shooting, as they do every time there is deputy-involved shooting.
