ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Sheriff’s officials arrested a 26-year-old Adelanto man who attempted to flee on foot during a traffic stop was arrested for possession of meth, officials said.
It happened on August 16, 2018, at about 12:19 am, when deputies conducted a traffic stop for CA vehicle code violations on a 2003 Kia Forte in the area of US Highway 395 and Bartlett Avenue in Adelanto.
Officials said the driver of the vehicle pulled over to the side of the road and stopped the vehicle.
“A passenger in the vehicle, later identified as Gerrardo Vargas, exited the vehicle in an attempt to flee on foot. Deputy Jahn was able to detain Vargas without incident,” stated a Thursday afternoon news release.
During a search of the suspect, deputies located a methamphetamine pipe in his pocket of along with a plastic baggy containing meth in the passenger seat where Vargas was sitting.
According to public arrests records, Vargas was cited and released for possession of a controlled substance and possession of unlawful paraphernalia and is no longer in custody.
