Exclusive: Dashcam footage captures glimpse of wild pursuit on 15 freeway that ended in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A motorist traveling on the 15 freeway captured a glimpse of a wild pursuit that ended with a pit-maneuver Saturday night in Apple Valley.

Lisa Hayes was traveling northbound on the I-15, in the no.1 lane just south of Highway 138 when a red Toyota Tacoma with a camper shell sped past her on the left shoulder.

The 36-second dashcam video shows the truck go speeding by just before the driver slams on his brakes and cuts across all lanes of traffic on the busy freeway.

Lisa said she was very scared and worried when the truck made a sudden u-turn and started driving the wrong way before the suspect quickly made another u-turn and continued northbound again.

The driver exited the 15 freeway and continued to drive erratically through several busy roadways in Hesperia and Victorville.

The pursuit made its way into the town of Apple Valley where it came to an end near the intersection of Highway 18 and Kiowa Road. Witnesses said a pit maneuver was used to stop the vehicle.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Cindy Bachman told VVNG, the truck was reported as stolen. Bachman said the Fontana Police Department took custody of the driver and is handling the investigation.

No injuries were reported to civilians or officers in the pursuit.
