Cross Eyed Cow Pizza and Billie’s Kitchen To Be Featured On America’s Best Restaurants

VICTOR VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Cross Eyed Cow Pizza in Oro Grande and Billie’s Kitchen in Barstow will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) in late February.

ABR is a national media and restaurant marketing company based in Florence, KY, travels the country telling the stories and highlighting the unique food of locally owned independent restaurants as part of their ABR Roadshow.

The episodes will focus on showcasing popular dishes and feature in-depth on-camera interviews with restaurant owners about their establishment’s significance in the local community.

Donna Graner, owner of Cross Eyed Cow Pizza, was nominated to be on the Roadshow by customer Debra Mockler. “The best pizza in the high desert,” Mockler wrote in her nomination. “The ingredients are fresh and the staff is always friendly. It is definitely a hidden gem.”

Located on Route 66, Cross Eyed Cow Pizza sports eclectic decor including a rooftop cow, tandem bicycle, and windmill. Cowhide-patterned booths, bucket lights, and an outdoor covered patio add to the ambience.

While the menu has numerous specialty pizzas available as well as pastas, appetizers and hot and cold subs, the build-your-own pizza is especially notable with six sauce choices, nine meats, and nineteen veggies. Eight ‘swirls’ to choose from plus vegan and gluten-free options ensure something for everyone.

America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Monday, February 26th  from 2 pm to 5 pm PST.

Billie Braun-Adams is the owner of Billie’s Kitchen and recently celebrated its third anniversary in January. The restaurant was nominated by customer Yvon Maldonado to be featured on the Roadshow.

“It’s a taste of home,” Maldonado wrote in her nomination. “[They] offer a variety of food and treat guests like family. The owner helps give back to the community.”

The tidy, minimalist space has paneled walls and a walk-up counter to order. The menu features an array of Mexican dishes, sandwiches, and breakfast items, and daily specials are posted on social media.

Braun-Adams says her dream has become a reality. She came to the area at age two, learning to cook from her mother and grandmother, and became known at a previous career and at church for her potluck supper coordination, special recipes, and cooking for friends as part of what she called the “taco lady underground”.
