HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) A stretch of Main Street in Hesperia remains closed after a rollover crash that damaged a power pole.
On Labor Day Monday at around 1:14 pm., dispatch received reports of a single vehicle rollover accident in the 17000 block of Main Street near Sultana Street.
Deputies located a white KIA Suv that rolled several times and struck a large wooden power pole, causing the pole to shear at the base completely.
According to Briana Sanchez the white vehicle was traveling eastbound on Main Street when a blue van on Sultana Street made a left turn directly in the path of the vehicle. “The man tried to swerve but hit the power pole and flipped 3-4 times,” stated Sanchez.
Authorities decided to shut down the roadway due to the overall threat to the public caused by downed power lines.
Main Street between Timberlane Avenue and Camphor Avenues will remain closed in both directions for approximately 4-6 hours, officials confirmed.
Southern California Edison employees have arrived on scene and in the process of evaluating the problem to make needed repairs.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the crash. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station.
Information will be updated as it becomes available.
