HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) A collision at a Chevron gas station led to a carjacking at gunpoint followed by a pursuit with deputies Thursday afternoon.
Hesperia Sheriff’s Deputies got the call about the incident around 1:50 pm at the gas station on Main Street and Seventh Avenue.
“Through investigation, we learned that there was a small (traffic collision) that occurred in the parking lot of the Chevron, the driver of the vehicle that caused the traffic collision got out and then held a victim at gunpoint and took his car,” Hesperia Sheriff’s Station Spokeswoman Jackie Chambers said.
Deputies spotted the stolen Honda occupied by a Hispanic male adult and pursued him on both surface streets and dirt roads before he was boxed in and stopped near Farmington Street and Cataba Road.
A black Kia ditched by the suspect at the gas station was reported stolen during another armed carjacking out of Las Vegas, scanner traffic reported.
Deputies will run the serial number of the recovered handgun through a system to determine if it’s connected to any other crimes.
Chambers said no injuries were reported during the incident.
