VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Jimmy Kendall Smith, 46, of Victorville is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly stabbed a couple who slept inside his apartment early Wednesday.
At about 3:36 am, Victorville sheriff’s deputies responded to a stabbing at an apartment complex in the 14900 block of Arlette Drive.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered the two victims, a 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, had been staying at the suspect’s apartment.
According to a sheriff’s news release, the couple was stabbed multiple times as they slept and managed to escape the suspect’s apartment and went to a neighbor for help.
“Deputies made entry into the suspect’s apartment and found him hiding in a closet, still in possession of the knife used in the stabbings. The suspect refused to comply with orders, leading deputies to use necessary force to detain him,” stated the release.
The two victims were transported by air to a trauma center and sheriff’s officials said their conditions are not known at this time.
Smith was taken by ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. Upon release from the hospital the suspect will be booked at High Desert Detention Center for attempted murder.
