
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) The San Bernardino County Coroner on Thursday identified the man found dead near Bear Valley Road in Victorville as 29-year-old Chance Smith, a transient.
Deputies with the Victorville Sheriff’s Station responded at 10:20 a.m. on Monday, June 26th to a report of a body found in a field next to West Coast Connection Auto Sales in the 15400 block of Outer Bear Valley Road.
Victorville resident, Arron Floyd came upon the body as he walked home through the field and smelled something odd. After attempting to wake the man, Floyd immediately called 911.
Deputies at the scene told Victor Valley News, foul play was not suspected and the incident was being handled as a death investigation.
The day Floyd made the discovery temperatures in the Victor Valley soared into the triple digits.
At this time it’s unclear if Smith died from the extreme heat or any other medical related issues.
The San Bernardino Coroners said the cause of death has not yet been determined as toxicology results are pending.
The family of Chance Smith have created a Gofundme and are asking for the public’s help to bring Chance home.
“Chance has to be transported from California to North Augusta SC so he can be laid to rest,” stated the Gofundme. “We need all the help we can get, please pray about it and give what you can.”
