Convicted felon arrested after armed robbery, kidnapping, and carjacking in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — David Robert Soto, 33, a previously convicted felon is behind bars again, this time after he robbed a man at gunpoint and ordered him to drive to the atm, officials said.

It happened on September 23, 2018, at about 11:07 am, Victorville deputies responded to an armed robbery in the 14000 block of Amargosa Road.

According to a sheriff’s news release, the suspect, David Robert Soto, an Adelanto transient and a convicted felon, approached the victim and robbed him at gunpoint.

“Once he had the victim’s personal property he got into the victim’s car and ordered him to drive to his bank where he would be made to take money from his account and give it to the suspect. The suspect noticed a citizen witnessing what was occurring and fled from the car on foot,” stated the release.

Deputies located the suspect near Palmdale Road and Borrego Road, where he was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

The victim’s belongings and the handgun used in the crime were recovered, officials said.

Soto was booked at High Desert Detention Center for robbery, kidnapping, carjacking, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is currently being held in lieu of a $250,000 bail and scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on September 25, 2018.
